The Final Year Project (FYP) is a compulsory course to be completed for a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). FYP provides opportunity for students to apply the knowledge that they have gained throughout their previous learning years to solve identified engineering issues in a systematic manner. 

Students are given two semesters to work on assigned project by appointed FYP supervisors. Students' progress will be monitored closely by their supervisors but are also expected to conduct their work independently. At the end of the project, students will have to document their work in a hard bounded thesis format, which must be submitted to the Faculty.

Objectives

At the end of the FYP, students should be able to:-

1. articulate as well as utilize academic and practical experiences in carrying out engineering projects.

2. think objectively, analytically and critically at an identified engineering problem, plus provide solution to it systematically.

3. perform relevant work independently in a project. 

4. convey findings and ideas effectively either orally or in written form.
